I'm here to help you every step of the way, from planning your portrait shoot, making the shoot itself as easy and fun as possible to helping you with displaying your photographs in your home or in books.

Portraits in the Greenwich studio can be booked in the day or early evening, weekdays or weekends, fitting into busy lives and avoiding any kind of reliance on the weather. The studio can take up to six people at a time.

THE START: We start by talking through what you would like from a portrait shoot and how you're thinking of displaying your images - whether as a present or for yourselves. Then we will cover what you might wear and which photographs we're going to take during your shoot so that we have the portraits that are best for you. They might be a wall collection in your formal sitting room, a book or a up to date classic black and white print for a desk or mantlepiece. This chat usually takes place on the phone, or you can book a time to visit the studio in person and see for yourself prints, books and albums.

YOUR BOOKING: You portrait shoot is confirmed with the session fee.  This is £75 for regular studio portrait shoots (available all week by appointment) and £25 for mini studio portrait shoots (available Monday to Friday by appointment).

YOUR SHOOT: The Greenwich studio is a relaxed place. Start with a coffee, tea or cold drink and sit on the big orange sofa. When you have shaken off your journey, there's a mirror for make-up and hair checks and we'll get going. You're welcome to bring changes of clothes for variety. Regular studio shoots have a range of poses and/or combinations of people. Mini shoots have one and are ideal for capturing one look of a child as they grow or a family together for a Christmas card.

YOUR ORDER SESSION: This happens about a week after your shoot and usually at your home. You'll see your fully edited portraits as a slideshow and however you intend to display them: as custom-designed wall galleries that work with your home's interior design and books that tell your story. I use software that shows you what different collections would look like on your walls so that you can easily choose exactly the right size and proportions for your space. There will also be a custom book design if that is something you may want; books are a great way of displaying most of your portraits so that you don't have to make decisions on which ones to leave out.

DELIVERY: Your order is usually ready between three and six weeks after being finalised, depending on what products you have chosen.

FAMILY SHOOTS: When you arrive, I would usually suggest you have a seat with a drink to chill for a few minutes. If you have young children, they may want to look around and I'll show them the lights and background paper and explain what we're going to do. With babies, we sometimes have a tiny window of opportunity between feeds and sleeps. If your child is in that window when you arrive, please say so that we can do your portraits in those few precious minutes and have coffee and a sit-down after.

We will start with the most important portraits first. If everything goes smoothly, we may well be done in 20-30 minutes. If it doesn't (as often happens), regular shoots are scheduled a minimum of two hours apart so that we have time to return to the sofa, perhaps another cup of tea and some drawing before a gentle return to the remaining portraits you have in mind. Playing games. laughter and family time are generally the best way forward for natural expressions and to allow the love and connection in a family to be seen and caught in a portrait.  Please feel free to bring whatever you think would help make your children happy, including snacks like a sandwich, carrot sticks, their favourite drink or toys.

GREENWICH: The Big Red Pizza Bus is about a 10-minute walk away from the studio and a fun place to eat - literally you can eat a pizza and pasta-based menu on a bus and take turns in the driver's seat. Greenwich Market and the Old Royal Naval College are also close by - two stops on the Docklands Light Railway or about a 20-minute walk down Greenwich High Road.

TRAVEL:  The studio is based in the OneSE8 development next to Deptford Bridge DLR station, close to the 453, 53, 177, 47 and 225 bus routes and within about a 15-minute walk or several bus stops away from New Cross Overground/National Rail or Greenwich National Rail. Parking for up to two hours is also available - just let me know ahead of time so that I can meet you and organise a parking permit.
