St Paul’s Cathedral wedding | Jo + Chris

The sun was out today for  Jo and Chris for their St Paul’s Cathedral wedding. Jo arrived early, looking fabulous, and we had time for some photographs of her and her bridesmaids inside the cathedral, before they entered the chapel for their ceremony.

Jo and Chris were married in St Paul’s crypt in the Chapel of the Order of the British Empire (OBE). We were very lucky to be able to take photographs in the main cathedral due to building works, as the bride arriving and the couple leaving usually are through a different entrance and exit. People who have been awarded an OBE and their families may be married in the crypt – in this case it was Jo’s father who has an OBE.

No photographs are allowed throughout the wedding ceremony itself, so we have Jo arriving with her father and bridesmaids and Jo and Chris leaving St Paul’s.

We shot some wedding portraits in nearby Paternoster Square before Jo and Chris travelled in a vintage car to their wedding reception. I especially love how Jo’s father is reflected onto the car window of her leaving St Paul’s. Bride and groom near sculpture in Paternoster SquareBride and groom wedding portraits near St Paul's CathedralBride and groom outside St Paul's Cathedral after weddingBride leaving St Pauls Cathedral in vintage car after wedding ceremony  Jo and Chris’s wedding reception was at the Army and Navy Club, in Pall Mall, which has a range of quirky furnishings including a range of stuffed animals, presumably collected on foreign trips.

During the speeches, Jo’s father took away her and Chris’s glasses of champagne … and had them replaced with a glass that had been given to Jo at her Christening for them to share. Very touchingly, Jo’s godmother had been seated close to the top table so she could see her glass being used.
